My many adventures

I survived breast cancer, to travel around the world to some of the many places I've always wanted to go. There are lots more places I still want to visit.

I've been to Scotland, England, Vancouver, Victoria BC, an Alaskan cruise, Yukon, Alaska (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway), a fab Mediterranean cruise which took us to Barcelona, the Vatican & Rome, the island of Crete, Izmir & Sulcuk, Ephesus Turkey, Egypt and Malta. I have been to Las Vegas, Hollywood LA, Cabo San Lucas, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Tampa, a Disney Cruise to Bahamas and Disney's Castaway Cay island, all over Canada and Hawaii and Pearl Harbour. We can add Cozumel, Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize City and Honduras. What a fabulous way to see the world!
Take the time to do the things you want to do because life is too short and if you wait until you can afford it, you'll likely never go. So get your plans ready and pick a place and start booking your trip. It is so worth it.

Thanks for dropping by. I have lots of posts to put up so stay tuned...

BLOG POST June 2019

Hi Folks! During a convention in Toronto in 2017, my grandson and I visited Niagara Falls, CN Tower and went to Medieval Knights dinner theatre. We had such a fabulous time! I will be posting pictures of that wonderful trip.

I still have a great deal of travel posts to put up. I want our vacations and travel to be shared with you all. I'm not sure of what our travel plans will be for 2017, but for 2016, I rested all the time. Retirement is so awesome!! I was able to take pictures of the summer's Totally Eclipse of the Moom, which I'll share with you here on a post. It was incredible for sure.
I just love summer! I hope the winter will be gentle to us.

Still trying to find my ancesters with the Foran/Forhan name. Apparently two brothers came over from Dublin, one was name Edward who had a son named Edward born in Prince Edward Island and he had a son named William who had my father. I love doing ancestry but it is very frustrating when you can get no further without the "parents" names.

I have so many posts to write about so please keep patience with me. I received a great posting from SiteHoundSniffs.com which looks to be a great animal site. Hope you enjoy it.

My granddaughter Layla made it to Master Chef Canada in 2018 but was cut. She's still a great cook.

My little guy Rialey is now 16 and is 6'2 ". He is so thoughtful of me and helps me a lot.

I had hoped to travel last year or in 2019, but health issues stopped that thought. Now I face another health issue, heart failure. Last May 2018 I was admitted to hospital and went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully they brought me back. With all the great health care, I am in recovery. When you don't have yur health, you have nothing. I think I have about 8 specialist doctors and my MD and I pay nothing, thank goodness!

Take care my blogger friends.

Thanks friends,

Debbie

Victoria, BC trip, an ongoing report

Hi Folks!

Day 1:  While we were sitting in the plane waiting for it to take off so early in the morning, about 5:30, we saw a sunrise that was astonding! It was so beautiful that many passengers even the flight crew couldn't help but look at its beauty!

We made it to Victoria, BC after a very long and tiring flight travel.   The first 2 hours were hard enough with the seats being so close to the seat in front of me.  But the 5 + hours from Toronto to Victoria was grilling!

The flight attendants were new and so friendly.  I asked them to keep their friendliness and don't allow themselves to get cranky and snotty with their passengers.  The sunrise from Halifax was beyond words!  It was THE most incredible sunrise I have ever witnessed...breathtaking! As soon as the plane landed in TO, we then got right back on a flight to Victoria.  The kids slept most of the way, especially little guy Rialey who was so cranky from lack of sleep.  We made it to Victoria somehow and after we got our luggage, we took a cab to our hotel.

We had to wait over 3 hours to check in because our room wasn't ready. We were beyond tired at this point.  We couldn't think or anything.  We waited in the room for hotel guests that were in transition to get into their room.  Finally we received the keys and took the elevator up.  When we opened the door to our room, I was amazed!  It was really beyond lovely.  The room, the view, the balcony but mostly the gorgeous bathroom awaited us!  I was more than pleased and the wait was worth it.  We face the beautiful harbour where the seaplanes come in and out; water taxis; zodiac boats filled with excited guests; and lots more activities.  Our balcony was really nice with sliding glass doors but the window looking out unto the balcony and the water was so big!  I love big windows and balconies.  This room gave it all to me.  We even had a little fridge.  But the bathroom felt like I was a very rich person living in the lap of luxury.  I'm only posting a few pics here as I will do a review post on this hotel.  We were supposed to go to a wine and cheese meet in the evening, but we all fell asleep and slept through the night.  We were exhausted.

This was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!

Our balcony was huge!

This was one of the most incredible bathrooms ever!

The beautiful view from our huge balcony!
Day 2: The shower was so wonderful and I felt so fresh.  We all went down to a continental breakfast which was almost over so little was left.  The kids went back to the room to cleanup and use the computer.  I came up at lunch and ordered room service.  The prices for food is way too much but I only had time for a quick lunch.  We ordered room service which charges the 15% tip and delivery of $4.00 so our lunch costs around $42.00 CA.  The salad was not good.  We had to complain and they sent up scallops for Layla.  I went back to my meetings and the kids went off their own after I gave them money.  It was a beautiful day in Victoria but cool. I can't wait to post pictures. We walked down to the Fisherman's Market where they had lots of different foods.  We took bike taxi to the place.  We ate at Barb's Fish and Chips.  It is recommended by Trip Advisor and had some awards posted.  Well, we try the expense fish and chips and we were very disappointed in the quality of our food.  The french fries were awful and the fish was way overcooked!  I was very surprised and not too happy about it.  I mentioned it one of the workers and she said that they could make me another one but I was too far gone at that point.  She offered a desert instead.  I was so disappointed in our food.

Day 3:  I was up for meetings while the kids went on their own.  They explored a lot of the city and came back tired.  We haven't swam in the pool yet but it is really small so it didn't appeal to us.  I ate in the restaurant of the Inn and the fish here was also overcooked.  I'm from the Maritimes, so I know how fish should taste and this wasn't it.  I sent it back and ask for it not to be overcooked.  It came back perfect and the fries were much better than at Barb's.  We took a taxi over to the other side of the harbour and we ate at the best little vegan/veggie restaurant.  I actually ate pesto spaghetti and it was incredible!  I took a picture of our waitress Anslie. She is a wonderful person and server!  We watched some of the first Buskers.  They started previous day.  By the weekend, there will be lots of  Buskers waiting for customers to watch them perform.  We walked back most of the way but I finally had to get a taxi.  We were exhausted and all went to bed early (or late).

Day 4:  I got up for the last day of my meetings.  The kids stayed in the room until the afternoon when they went shopping.  Layla has had a headache for a few days.  She is not eating enough either.  She can't eat certain foods.  We had a nice bbq tonight but Layla wasn't feeling well and went to the room.  I came to the room and packed. I booked our bus & ferry over to Vancouver docks to catch our ship.  The view from our room is so beautiful!  You'll love it too

Day 5:  We got up and finished packing so we could get our taxi over to the bus station then on to the ferry to take us to our ship.  Once we are on the ship, our communication will be stopped until we return on the 2nd.
