I took the kids to Las Vegas to visit my nephew Howie in 2008. Little guy Rialey was at the early days of his ADHD and things but he was so well behaved that I never would have thought he would get worse before getting better like he is today.
The kids were so excited as well as me too. I always wanted to visit Vegas and felt it was more of a dream when we actually got there. I couldn't believe I was actually saying the words Las Vegas, WOW, it was awesome! Howie met us at the airport and we were excited to see him. We stayed at his home with his wife Jackie and her son Coady. We had a great time. They had a lovely home in Henderson and we were able to visit around the strip. Howie would let us off and we would explore.
Howie has an IT business and he knows how to really fix computers and stuff. He does remote repairs to my computer all the way to Nova Scotia. He's awesome!
One thing we loved the most was Circus Circus. You could buy the bracelet and go on all the rides as many times as you want so I have to say it is worth it. We saw little shows too and got wet in some. The kids went on the big roller coaster while I just sat back and watched them. The flume ride was not working at the time, too bad.
One day Howie took us all out to the Valley of Fire but that's another Post. Jackie, his wife took me and the kids across to California, Hollywood and we stayed over night at the hotel the stars stay in when they go to the Kodak Theatre for Oscars. Everything is in the hotel and the beds were super comfortable, but what we loved most was the view from our high room. The hotel was so beautiful but the costs was just over $400 US a night. The lights of the Vegas strip at night was incredible! I would sit for hours and look at the busy lights and bustling cars while the kids slept.
Our last two days in Vegas, we stayed in a hotel I got from my RCI for only $47.00 for two nights and the hotel didn't have a casino. The pool was so cold because they don't heat it and we came when the weather wasn't as hot. We went on March break.
Another highlight of our Vegas trip was getting tickets to see Bette Midler in person at Cesar's palace. What a place that is! We visited the many designer stores and I wanted to buy Layla a shirt for $140 but she wanted Holster, go figure!
Bette was awesome and so funny. The tickets costs me $818.00 for Jackie, Layla and me. It was a lot of money but I figure I'll never see Bette again. I bought her Bette cup and I use it still today to drink my tea.
I'd go back again, especially with the knowledge of what we know. It was so surreal to say I was in Las Vegas and it is another bucket list check off!
