During our cruise, we were in Alexandria, Cairo and Giza. The people were so wonderful, but the poverty was horrible. So sad to see these incredible reduced to this poverty because the government doesn't have welfare, health care, medicare, and social programs. I hope this changes for them because they all deserve it. I enjoyed my time there and hope to go back again one day for a longer period of time. Two things I won't forget, the camel ride and the tour guide who was horrible! I didn't get to buy my souveniers or shop but he made sure he took me to this place that was supposed to be the best gold and silver but my necklace turn in the ship's pool and the gift shop tried to clean it but it was brass! Yes, brass.
The best places to buy your trinkets is right at the pyramids. You can bargain a good price, but watch any thing a guide tells you. It is best to make a list of what you want to do and insist you be taken to where you want to do, not where they want to take you, especially if you want to shop or buy gifts. You can waste a lot of time then have no time for what you want to do.
