My many adventures

I survived breast cancer, to travel around the world to some of the many places I've always wanted to go. There are lots more places I still want to visit.

I've been to Scotland, England, Vancouver, Victoria BC, an Alaskan cruise, Yukon, Alaska (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway), a fab Mediterranean cruise which took us to Barcelona, the Vatican & Rome, the island of Crete, Izmir & Sulcuk, Ephesus Turkey, Egypt and Malta. I have been to Las Vegas, Hollywood LA, Cabo San Lucas, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Tampa, a Disney Cruise to Bahamas and Disney's Castaway Cay island, all over Canada and Hawaii and Pearl Harbour. We can add Cozumel, Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize City and Honduras. What a fabulous way to see the world!
Take the time to do the things you want to do because life is too short and if you wait until you can afford it, you'll likely never go. So get your plans ready and pick a place and start booking your trip. It is so worth it.

Thanks for dropping by. I have lots of posts to put up so stay tuned...

BLOG POST June 2019

Hi Folks! During a convention in Toronto in 2017, my grandson and I visited Niagara Falls, CN Tower and went to Medieval Knights dinner theatre. We had such a fabulous time! I will be posting pictures of that wonderful trip.

I still have a great deal of travel posts to put up. I want our vacations and travel to be shared with you all. I'm not sure of what our travel plans will be for 2017, but for 2016, I rested all the time. Retirement is so awesome!! I was able to take pictures of the summer's Totally Eclipse of the Moom, which I'll share with you here on a post. It was incredible for sure.
I just love summer! I hope the winter will be gentle to us.

Still trying to find my ancesters with the Foran/Forhan name. Apparently two brothers came over from Dublin, one was name Edward who had a son named Edward born in Prince Edward Island and he had a son named William who had my father. I love doing ancestry but it is very frustrating when you can get no further without the "parents" names.

I have so many posts to write about so please keep patience with me. I received a great posting from SiteHoundSniffs.com which looks to be a great animal site. Hope you enjoy it.

My granddaughter Layla made it to Master Chef Canada in 2018 but was cut. She's still a great cook.

My little guy Rialey is now 16 and is 6'2 ". He is so thoughtful of me and helps me a lot.

I had hoped to travel last year or in 2019, but health issues stopped that thought. Now I face another health issue, heart failure. Last May 2018 I was admitted to hospital and went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully they brought me back. With all the great health care, I am in recovery. When you don't have yur health, you have nothing. I think I have about 8 specialist doctors and my MD and I pay nothing, thank goodness!

Take care my blogger friends.

Thanks friends,

Debbie

Hotel 1898 Barcelona Dec. 2010

This hotel went beyond my expectations! The kids and I loved the room, the hotel, the pools and the cleanliness! I travel a lot and have never seen people clean as much as the cleaners in this hotel. They should be commended! The marble in the bathroom, the decor of the room, the beautiful softness of the bed, mattress and pillows were awesome! The side view of the city was breathtaking. The doors are so sound proof. It was awesome to go out directly into the La Ramblas. We were in the Gothic area. The shops and side streets were great. The room service for food was fast and had good food, cheaper than the restaurant and bar which didn't give many choices and was way too expensive! The breakfast buffet had a great deal of food to choose from and tasted very different from what we are use to in Canada. The cost was so high though, 21 Euros each! The local food was enjoyed by my granddaughter Layla, but it was too different for me. I like plain food. The little shops and stores were awesome! The tiny, narrow streets were exquisite. The Hop On and Hop Off buses are a great way to see the entire city and have reasonable prices, 58 Euros for 2 adults and one child. The view from many stops was breathtaking. We wish we had more time to spend.

The people were so friendly. The La Ramblas was very crowded. There were a lot of places we didn't get to but we will next time!

The hotel staff, especially James went above their way for us. We felt like royalty. The hotel itself is so beautiful and impressive! We were in awe of such beauty. The pools were so warm, even the roof top pool, which we enjoyed so much. The SPA pool was unique and so relaxing. Children under 14 are not supposed to be in it which will ensure adults can just relax.  It is the only hotel in Barcelona that has two pools, one indoors and one outdoors.  The water was exceptionally warm so the cool wind didn't bother us while in the warm roof top pool.  We felt like we zoomed back in time to an ancient era. I would go back, I can't wait to go back, I love this hotel and it was well worth it. 213 Euros a night is a little high priced but for the 3 nights we stayed, we felt it was worth it because we had never been to Spain and the safety and security was more important. This hotel was very secured. We had a safe in our room which we used. The large king-size bed was more than big enough for all 3 of us and I recommend that the hotel not be so insistent on only 2 people per room. This was fine for a family of 3. We thoroughly enjoy the free internet (we brought our small lap top). The TV had lots of channels to watch, especially for small kids like 8.

I just can't say enough of this wonderful hotel. It is the only one with two pools, one on the roof and one in the basement. This was the MAJOR reason why I choose this hotel and I am so glad I did. The main sitting areas in the hotel had very comfortable sofas and chairs while sitting back to watch black and white movies on a large flat screen TV. The marble of the hotel especially in the bathrooms, the dark, wide hardwood floors and the decor in the rooms are an eye catcher and greatly appreciated by us. Little Rialey asked why we have two toilets! We laughed and explained it to him, he just said "oh", then walked away to explore.
Folks, if you looking to stay at one fabulous hotel, I highly recommend Hotel 1898, it is the only place we'll stay from now on. Thank you so much to the hotel staff and especially to the cleaners who go above and beyond what housekeeping do for us on a daily basis.
