My many adventures

I survived breast cancer, to travel around the world to some of the many places I've always wanted to go. There are lots more places I still want to visit.

I've been to Scotland, England, Vancouver, Victoria BC, an Alaskan cruise, Yukon, Alaska (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway), a fab Mediterranean cruise which took us to Barcelona, the Vatican & Rome, the island of Crete, Izmir & Sulcuk, Ephesus Turkey, Egypt and Malta. I have been to Las Vegas, Hollywood LA, Cabo San Lucas, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Tampa, a Disney Cruise to Bahamas and Disney's Castaway Cay island, all over Canada and Hawaii and Pearl Harbour. We can add Cozumel, Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize City and Honduras. What a fabulous way to see the world!
Take the time to do the things you want to do because life is too short and if you wait until you can afford it, you'll likely never go. So get your plans ready and pick a place and start booking your trip. It is so worth it.

Thanks for dropping by. I have lots of posts to put up so stay tuned...

BLOG POST June 2019

Hi Folks! During a convention in Toronto in 2017, my grandson and I visited Niagara Falls, CN Tower and went to Medieval Knights dinner theatre. We had such a fabulous time! I will be posting pictures of that wonderful trip.

I still have a great deal of travel posts to put up. I want our vacations and travel to be shared with you all. I'm not sure of what our travel plans will be for 2017, but for 2016, I rested all the time. Retirement is so awesome!! I was able to take pictures of the summer's Totally Eclipse of the Moom, which I'll share with you here on a post. It was incredible for sure.
I just love summer! I hope the winter will be gentle to us.

Still trying to find my ancesters with the Foran/Forhan name. Apparently two brothers came over from Dublin, one was name Edward who had a son named Edward born in Prince Edward Island and he had a son named William who had my father. I love doing ancestry but it is very frustrating when you can get no further without the "parents" names.

I have so many posts to write about so please keep patience with me. I received a great posting from SiteHoundSniffs.com which looks to be a great animal site. Hope you enjoy it.

My granddaughter Layla made it to Master Chef Canada in 2018 but was cut. She's still a great cook.

My little guy Rialey is now 16 and is 6'2 ". He is so thoughtful of me and helps me a lot.

I had hoped to travel last year or in 2019, but health issues stopped that thought. Now I face another health issue, heart failure. Last May 2018 I was admitted to hospital and went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully they brought me back. With all the great health care, I am in recovery. When you don't have yur health, you have nothing. I think I have about 8 specialist doctors and my MD and I pay nothing, thank goodness!

Take care my blogger friends.

Thanks friends,

Debbie

CheapOAir tickets and website and Continental Airlines

We booked our flight with Cheap-O-Air and I checked today and it is still around the cheapest flight to Spain.  The one problem I have is that our e-tickets don't match our passport names.  Now I am trying to get this fixed so we won't have a problem when we fly out later this year.

I would suggest for all travellers to check EVERYTHING on your ticket and compare it to your passport and don't forget to renew your passport at least 6 months before it expires, otherwise, you will find yourself denied entry or exit to places you want to travel to.

I am playing phone tag with CheapOair but I'll let you know once I get if fixed up.  Boy, I hope so.  Blog later!

Well, I finally received an answer from CheapOair and they couldn't make the changes to our tickets to have the correct names.  We didn't have our middle names on the tickets and we don't want issues at the airport or the country we are flying to.

At their suggestion, we contacted the airline directly and after 1 hr and 14 minutes, they were able to fix two of our names, but the little guy's name is still being worked on.  Rialey won't be too happy if his ticket won't work to get him on the plane.  The computer at the airline wouldn't take the change for him but the wonderful ticket agent consoled me that she and her supervisor would make it work and she would send me an email message.  Her name is Meumi Williams and she works for Continental Airlines.  They are WONDERFUL!

I highly recommend booking your flights through CheapOair and know that if Continental Airline is your airline, you are in EXCELLENT HANDS.  Thank you to the wonderful people that are doing all they can to ensure we have a fantastic trip.

Check out CheapOair sites.  I am also a guest blogger on their site:

Off to Ottawa at the Monterey Inn resort

Ottawa here I come!  I'll be staying at two different hotels and I will be flying Air Canada.  I will be blogging about my travels.

I am here at the Monterey Inn resort.  My first time.  They do not take areoplan or any other reward cards, too bad.  The place looks very unassuming.  It has a separate rock faced check in building where they serve a continental breakfast and a dinning room, which couldn't be used this night due to a function but room service was offered.  I ordered a delicious soup and spinach salad but the fish was over cooked.

The room I was given was in the last building (3 in all), with an elevator to the upper floors.  The room entrances are accessed from the long balcony.  The rooms were quite big, with a small fridge and coffee making machine.  It had a separate sink and the tub and toilet in another room.  I found a few cobwebs on the corners of the wall near the desk, but they did give me an internet cord to hook up my lap top.

The best thing about the room was the back end balcony that looked out over a beautiful river or small lake surrounded by beautiful greenery and trees.  There were patio chairs and small table.  I unfortunately left the sliding doors open and I got a mosquito in.  I hate those bussey things.

There were lots of channels to choose from.  From the front of the door, the pool are with lawn chairs could be seen and it had a great kiddy slide.  Not far from us was Tim Horton's, a great place to get coffee and other things.

My room had a dark blue carpet with a green/blue soft love seat, with a desk, chair and lamp.  There was a small table beside the bed, next to the small sofa.  The bed was comfortable (but I had better) and the pillows were not my favourite.  Next to the TV was a table and two chairs which was located next to the sliding glass doors to the patio.  The air was fresh.

All in all, the service was excellent and the room was fully acceptable.  I am glad I had the opportunity to experience this Inn/Resort.  Would I stay here again, I don't think so, but the main building that you register in has the most beautiful rock entrance ways.  It is very lovely.  The Sunday brunch is by reservation only.  Unfortuately I was not able to try it.   I'll put pictures up later.

We were up here and attend the Peace Officer's Memorial and it was very moving.  I'll do a separate blog on this as I feel it deserves one on its own and I will post pictures from my phone as well.
